The socio-constructivist model
By now should realize that you are beginning a journey. This journey will bring you around the world of the education network using one of the many tools available, via collaboration, community networks, personal sails, coaches, mentors or ask-an-expert model, you will be constantly evaluating tools and resources and their impact in education. If this is your first journey, it may seem a little daunting however you will soon discover that 'you are not alone' and will begin to harness the real power of the social software and the community of collaboration to enrich your own learning environment. The key is to travel the web, find a port of call and take the time to explore all it's features and more importantly apply it to your tool set in order to impact teaching and learning.

Now you have returned from your journey and need to begin applying what you have learned. Let's explore what this may look like at the classroom level. This introduction is meant to give you a vision, a goal or an objective to acheive during this course. What is your reason for taking this course? What is your revised goal(s)?.

Before we embark at a look at the latest technology, let's take a brief look at the 'technology' that brought us here.
Education has changed significantly since the days of the Book... or have we? Has education changed and can we integrate some new technologies into the learning process to engage student sand increase outcomes? All of us have heard of some of these new applications, and as evidenced by the use of this wiki, Web 2.0 will have significant impact on how we educate students. Let's take a brief look at the new application ... the Web.
The machine is Us. The new application is the web... this course examines the perspectives and foundations of education theory, and techniques of educational technology, and the integration of technology into the curriculum.
Lets begin the journey now that we have glimpse of where we are.
